Cardinal Counseling - Oct. 18th 5 Bullet Friday

WELCOME TO 5 BULLET FRIDAY!

The Chadron High School Cardinal Counseling Department is excited to share our 5 Bullet Friday Newsletter for the 2019-20 school year!  Each week we will be providing readers with five facts, tips or tricks to help make the school year a success academically, emotionally, and socially!

If you do not wish to receive this email feel free to UNSUBSCRIBE using the button located at the bottom of this email.

1. First Quarter Report Cards are Heading Home TODAY!

Report cards will be handed out to students TODAY during their 4th block class.  Reminder, only quarter classes (Example, Speech, FCS 9, Health etc.) are official transcript grades and the rest will be averaged with quarter 2 grades for final semester official grades.  EEEK this is confusing right?!  See the next bullet and this week's Cardinal Cast for more information!

2. Cardinal Cast:  Report Cards, Transcript Grades, and Mrs. Watson's BEEF with Infinite Campus!

We promise it's not as boring as it looks.... Mrs. Watson only fell asleep one time while Mr. Mack was talking and that got caught on camera......
Takeaways from this episode:

1.  Learn what your student's report card REALLY MEANS.

2.  High School and Middle School are VERY different when it comes to grading, transcripts, and report cards.

3.  Mrs. Watson has some beef with Infinite Campus... learn why.

4.  Nebraska and CHS both require very specific credits for advancement and diplomas.

3. Transition to College Monday October 21st at 6 p.m.

Our last Transition to College night for the Fall will be on Monday, October 21st at 6 p.m. in the high school library.  11th and 12th grade parents AND students are invited to attend for this one!

Come learn about how you can help your child transition to college and focus this week on PAYING FOR COLLEGE! This is a 3 part series this Fall and will continue on October 21st. Daycare and dinner will be provided!

Also friendly reminder ACT Dates and Registration deadlines (listed below).  It is NEVER too early to take an ACT!  9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders are all encouraged to give the test a shot and see how they do, statistically the more times you take the ACT the better you do!

4. Apply2College Week!

On October 28th the CHS Counseling Office will host a fun event called Apply to College Week!  During the entire week we will host college reps, complete fun college trivia, give away a massive amount of college prizes, wear cool college gear, and play college themed games.  We will have a two capstone events on October 30th for juniors and seniors where we visit Chadron State College!
Completing a college application can be daunting – especially if a student doesn’t have help with the forms.
That’s why EducationQuest sponsors Apply2College, an annual statewide campaign in which high schools conduct events during the school day to help seniors apply to college. This is part of a national campaign to change the lives of students.
