The Chadron High Future Leaders of America attended the annual State Leadership Conference in Omaha on April 25. While at the conference, students participated in a bigbusiness tour of Werner Enterprises, listened to the keynote speaker, Laymon Hicks, and attended a variety of workshops. But most importantly, Chadron students competed amongst all class levels in many different business competitions. This conference was one of the biggest in years with over 2,400 students and advisors in attendance this year. Chadron was also represented well by the local FBLA chapter as students took trips across the stage to receive their awards. Caston Stack placed 3rd in both Computer Problem Solving and Computer Application events. Placing third at the state level gives him the honors to represent Nebraska at the 2014 National Conference in Nashville, TN in June. Caston also received honorable mention (which is the top 4%) in Personal Finance and Business Calculations. Bailea Kerr, Peyton Hinn and Michael Martin received 6th place for Website Design. Our Community Service project placed 7th and was completed by Kaylee Gaswick, Veronica Parish and Peyton Hinn. Greta Welch also placed 7th in the Spelling event. Honorable mentions were also given to Bailea Kerr for Business Law, and Corbin Johnson for Health Care Administration. Honors also went to Allie Johnson, Bailea Kerr, Peyton Hinn, Veronica Parish and Kaylee Gaswick for qualifying for the AllState Quality Member and Kaylee was Chadron’s representative for Who’s Who in Nebraska FBLA and received a plaque for that honor. As a chapter, Chadron received the Sweepstakes Award also earning a plaque. The following is a list of the awards and accomplishments among members in attendance:
