Ogallala, Nebraska looked like a ghost town on October 11th as gunslingers from all over District 4 gathered for a historic Cross Country shootout. The townsfolk closed down shutters, children relocated out of harms way, and the oldtimers predicted a battle for the ages. When the dust settled, the Cardinals stood bleeding and bruised but not beaten sending eight runner’s to state competition.
The Boy’s team narrowly missed a State birth. The entire team ran personal bests: Phil Duncan (17:22), Alec Burk (17:37), Robert Kouba (18:06), Thomas McClure (18:19), Weslee Jackson (18:28), Doug McCallum (19:34). Punching their tickets to state were Phil Duncan 9th and Alec Burk 13th .
The girls team were District Runner-Ups Nicky Applegarth (15:10), Briley Hannaford (15:53), Kia Passero (16:05), Telli Morford (17:43), Veronica Parish (19:02) Kodi Baumann (19:34). Nicky Applegarth 3rd, Briley Hannaford 5th, and Kia Passero 7th . As runner-ups, the entire girls team will compete at state.
Good Luck at State in Kearney, Nebraska, on October 19th!
