On Monday, 11 students from the CHS Band participated in the Oregon Trail Honor Band at Gering High School. The Honor Band is in its 9th year and has been hosted by Gering High School each year. Jay Gilbert from Doane College conceived the idea of an honor band that featured students from Western Nebraska nine years ago and has been the conductor of the band each year. The honor band has grown from 42 students and 5 schools nine years ago to 84 students and 15 schools in this years band.
This year's participants from Chadron were Matt Kerner, Simon Rischling, Harlie Kennell, Kaylee Garvin, Gabe Ramos, Marquis Burwell, Chace Franey, Hannah Kennell, Hunter Hawk, Sam Rischling, and Kat Dodd.
