(Guest Post by Coach Joe McCarty)
During Round 1 of the Mock Trial Regional Competition, Chadron Team 1 defeated Scotsbluff and Chadron Team 2 defeated Chadron Team 3 to advance to the semifinals. During the semifinals Team 1 faced Sidney and Team 2 faced Gering. Team 2 had a good performance but Gering was able to squeak by them into the finals. The closest competition of the day actually occurred during the semifinals against Sidney. At the end of the trial the performance judges were split on who won the round, so the nerve-racking decision fell to the presiding Judge. The presiding Judge ruled in favor of Chadron, setting up a Chadron vs Gering championship round. With a unanimous decision, Chadron Team 1 beat out Gering after a hard fought trial to become Regional Champions. Team 1 will be heading down to Omaha to compete in the state competition on December 6th and 7th.
The kids put in a lot of long hours this year and I am proud of all their hard work. The high caliber of the young men and women on the Mock Trial Team never ceases to amaze me. They are all involved in a plethora of activities yet somehow find a way to excel in all of them. I am very proud of all three teams, they definitely earned it.
Thank you.
